Whether it’s a casual backyard BBQ, a lively tailgate party, or an indoor gathering with friends, game day food brings people together. I might not have a favorite team, but I’ll always be first in line for a plate piled high with delectable bites. Nachos, in particular, are the quintessential sharing food, sparking conversations and satisfying cravings with every crunchy, cheesy bite.

2. **The unparalleled efficiency of sheet pan meals:** This trend has swept the culinary world, and for good reason! The sheet pan is a true kitchen hero, allowing you to prepare generous portions of food with minimal cleanup. It’s the perfect solution for feeding a crowd without the usual fuss and multiple pots and pans. Elevating Your Nachos: The Supreme Toppings

When you hear “nachos supreme,” your mind might immediately conjure images of ground beef simmered with classic taco seasonings. And while that’s a perfectly delicious and time-honored approach, we decided to take a bold step forward and elevate the protein component to truly supreme status. For this recipe, we’ve chosen Walmart Angus Premium Choice Beef, specifically their Angus NY Strip Steak. This cut is a personal favorite due to its superior marbling, which translates directly into unparalleled flavor and remarkable tenderness. The consistent quality of USDA Choice steaks from Walmart ensures that every bite is as delicious as the last, all offered at their consistently affordable prices.

Speaking of Walmart, I’m also thoroughly impressed by their Tasty line of kitchenware and gadgets. These vibrant and fun tools, ranging from the very sheet pans used in this recipe to can openers, garlic presses, and measuring cups, prove that functionality doesn’t have to sacrifice style. They’re not just eye-catching; they’re also incredibly practical and budget-friendly, making them perfect for outfitting any kitchen.

Fully loaded Sheet Pan Steak Nachos Supreme with a variety of colorful toppings.

Beyond the star-studded steak, the magic of these nachos lies in the layers of thoughtfully chosen toppings. While simply melting shredded cheese over your chips is always an option, there’s something about a rich, creamy cheese sauce that truly screams “game day celebration.” Our quick and easy queso recipe is a game-changer, utilizing a secret ingredient – a touch of cream cheese – to achieve that irresistibly smooth and velvety texture. This simple addition transforms a good cheese sauce into a truly exceptional one, clinging perfectly to every chip and delivering a burst of cheesy goodness with each bite.

But the journey to nacho nirvana doesn’t stop there. We layer these nachos with a robust foundation of refried beans, vibrant chopped tomatoes, a cooling dollop of sour cream, the zesty kick of jalapeños, fresh cilantro, and a creamy swirl of guacamole. The beauty of nachos, however, is their inherent customizability. Feel empowered to unleash your creativity and add your favorite toppings. Think sliced black olives, finely diced red onion, a sprinkle of cotija cheese, or even a dash of hot sauce for an extra kick. The possibilities are endless, ensuring that every platter of Sheet Pan Steak Nachos Supreme is uniquely yours.

Pro Tips for Crafting the Perfect Nachos Supreme

While making nachos supreme might seem straightforward, a few key techniques can transform them from good to absolutely glorious. These simple tips will ensure every chip is perfectly seasoned, wonderfully cheesy, and utterly satisfying:

  • **The Art of Layering:** This is perhaps the most crucial tip for any sheet pan nacho recipe. Simply piling all your toppings onto a single layer of chips often results in a sad, bare bottom layer. The secret? Create two distinct layers. Start with half your tortilla chips, spread them out evenly, then add half of your beans, steak, and shredded cheese. Repeat this process with the remaining ingredients. This strategic layering ensures that every single chip has a fair share of those delicious toppings, guaranteeing flavor in every bite and eliminating any dry, untouched areas.
  • **Double the Cheese, Double the Delight:** Why settle for one type of cheese application when you can have two? We advocate for a dual-cheese approach. First, sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheese – mozzarella is an excellent choice for its meltability – directly over your layered chips and toppings before baking. This creates a gooey, integrated cheese base. Once the nachos emerge from the oven, piping hot and fragrant, douse them generously with our easy, creamy cheese sauce. This combination provides both a rich, baked-on cheese flavor and a luxurious, pourable sauce that coats everything beautifully. As a bonus, the cheese sauce can be prepared in advance, stored in the refrigerator, and gently reheated just before serving. If it becomes too thick, a splash of milk will bring it back to the perfect drizzling consistency.
  • **Timing is Everything:** To prevent your crispy tortilla chips from becoming disappointingly soggy, always assemble your Sheet Pan Steak Nachos Supreme just before you’re ready to serve them. The heat and moisture from the toppings and cheese can soften the chips over time. By baking and serving immediately, you ensure maximum crunch and freshness for your eager guests.

  • Cut the steak into thin strips against the grain.
1.25 lb Walmart Angus NY Strip Steak
  • Combine the soy sauce, olive oil, garlic, cumin, chili powder and smoked paprika in a resealable bag. Add the steak, close the bag, and gently shake to coat the meat with the marinade. Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, up to 4 hours.
1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce, 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil, 1 teaspoon minced garlic, 1/4 teaspoon cumin, 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • To make the queso, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic and jalapeño and cook until softened, about 1 minute. Whisk in the cornstarch, then slowly add the milk, whisking constantly. Continue to cook until it comes to a boil and thickens slightly. Add the cream cheese and whisk until smooth. Add the cheddar cheese a bit at a time, whisking in between additions.
1 tablespoon butter, 1 clove garlic, 1/2 jalapeño, 1/2 tablespoon cornstarch, 3/4 cup milk, 2 oz cream cheese, 4 oz sharp cheddar cheese
  • Place over low heat to keep warm until needed.
  • Heat a large skillet (preferably cast iron) over high heat. Add half of the steak pieces to the skillet, spreading out into a single layer. Cook until browned on one side, then use tongs to flip the pieces to the other side. Cook until browned, then remove the steak to a bowl. Repeat with the other half of the steak.
  • Open the refried beans and transfer to a medium saucepan. Add a couple tablespoons of water, then heat over medium heat until the beans are heated through and smooth.
1 (16 oz) can refried beans

  • Place in the oven and bake until the cheese is melted and the nachos are warmed through, 5-7 minutes.
  • Remove the nachos from the oven and pour the cheese sauce over the top. Top with sour cream, tomatoes, jalapeños, cilantro, guacamole, and lime wedges.
