Experience the ultimate comfort food fusion with our Bacon and Egg Burger – a perfectly seasoned beef patty crowned with crispy bacon and a luscious fried egg, transforming a classic meal into an unforgettable breakfast-for-dinner delight!
There’s something uniquely satisfying about elevating a classic dish with a simple, yet brilliant, addition. And when it comes to burgers, few things transform the experience quite like a perfectly cooked egg. If you’re as enthusiastic about adding an egg to your meals as we are, you’ll surely love exploring other egg-centric recipes, such as this delectable Egg Pizza with Creamed Spinach, or these incredibly easy and flavorful Breakfast Tostadas. But today, our focus is on the star of the show: the Bacon and Egg Burger, a creation that promises to redefine your burger expectations.

My journey with homemade burgers has been quite a transformation over the past few years. For a long time, the art of crafting a truly great burger felt somewhat elusive to me. It wasn’t until I met my husband that my perspective on burgers completely shifted. He possessed an incredible talent for grilling, and his mastery of creating a juicy, flavorful hamburger was truly eye-opening. Before experiencing his culinary skills, I honestly didn’t fully grasp what a truly delicious burger could be. And once you’ve tasted the best, it’s hard to settle for anything less, or even attempt to compete. So, for a while, whenever a burger craving hit, I’d happily delegate the grilling duties to him.
However, my curiosity as a cook eventually led me to explore various burger recipes that caught my eye. Many of these, coincidentally, came from the renowned Rachael Ray, known for her accessible and ingenious cooking methods. Despite my growing interest, I harbored a quiet lack of confidence in my burger-making abilities. Could I really recreate that unparalleled flavor and texture at home? It took a few years and a handful of attempts, but I gradually discovered that I had learned a thing or two, or perhaps I simply became adept at selecting truly outstanding burger recipes. This particular Bacon and Egg Burger recipe was a turning point, proving to me that I possessed the skills to create a burger that was not just good, but absolutely amazingly delicious.
One aspect of this burger that utterly captivated me was the inclusion of a fried egg. It might seem like a simple addition, and certainly not a new concept in the culinary world, but it was my first time experiencing an egg atop my own homemade burger. As a fervent lover of both eggs and burgers, the combination felt like a match made in heaven. The creamy, rich yolk mingling with the savory patty and crispy bacon created an explosion of flavors and textures that required no other condiments. It was complete perfection on a bun. Even if you’re hesitant about adding an egg, the way the meat patty is seasoned in this recipe is exceptional on its own. Rachael Ray’s genius method of grating onion directly into the beef mixture is a game-changer, ensuring every bite is incredibly moist and flavorful. Without a doubt, this Bacon and Egg Burger has rocketed straight to the top of my all-time favorite burger recipes!

Ingredients
- 1/2 lb thick cut bacon
- 1/4 cup real maple syrup
- 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
- 3 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
- 3 tablespoons grated onion
- 2 tablespoons grainy dijon mustard
- salt and pepper
- extra virgin olive oil or vegetable oil for drizzling
- 1/2 lb sliced extra-sharp white cheddar
- melted butter
- 4 large eggs
- 4 hamburger buns
Instructions
- To prepare the bacon, preheat your oven to 400ºF (200ºC). Arrange the thick-cut bacon strips evenly on a broiler pan or a cooling rack placed over a baking sheet. Bake for approximately 15 minutes, or until the bacon is mostly cooked but not yet crispy. Drizzle the real maple syrup generously over the bacon, then return it to the oven. Continue baking for another 5 to 6 minutes, or until the bacon reaches your desired level of crispness and is beautifully caramelized.1/2 lb thick cut bacon, 1/4 cup real maple syrup
- For the burger patties, heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat until hot. In a large bowl, gently combine the ground beef with the worcestershire sauce, grated onion, and grainy dijon mustard. Season generously with salt and pepper. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and form them into patties about 1/2 inch thick. Drizzle a little extra virgin olive oil or vegetable oil over each patty. Place the patties in the hot skillet and cook for about 7 minutes, flipping once, until a beautiful crust forms and the burgers are cooked to your preference. During the last 2 minutes of cooking, top each patty with a slice of extra-sharp white cheddar and allow it to melt perfectly.1 1/2 lbs ground beef, 3 tablespoons worcestershire sauce, 3 tablespoons grated onion, 2 tablespoons grainy dijon mustard, salt and pepper, extra virgin olive oil or vegetable oil for drizzling, 1/2 lb sliced extra-sharp white cheddar
- While the burgers are cooking, melt a small amount of butter in a separate pan over medium heat. Crack the large eggs into the pan and cook them to your desired doneness – whether you prefer a runny yolk, over-easy, or firm. Season the cooked eggs with salt and pepper to taste.melted butter, 4 large eggs
- To assemble, lightly toast the hamburger buns until golden. Place a cheesy burger patty on the bottom bun, layer with a perfectly cooked fried egg, then top with the crispy maple-glazed bacon. Finish with the top bun and serve immediately for an incredibly satisfying meal!4 hamburger buns
